Unique footage online: I made this video especially with Martijn van Helvert on the occasion of Entrepreneur’s Day, whom I got to know well at the beginning of this year, just when Corona was setting up.
During that time, we have launched initiatives to help reduce resource shortages in healthcare. What is my story: I come from a true entrepreneurial family and continue our businesses as a 3rd generation. We are housed in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Sweden.
Our companies manufacture and design industrial machinery in air treatment and surface treatment. In other words, we produce Ventilators, Filters and Automated Blasting Plants. Our products can be found on industrial sites. Where food is processed, where agricultural vehicles are produced, where chip machines are made for export to China.
I trained as a machine designer in precision engineering for ASML. I designed products of millimeters in size, calculating to nanometers. What I find really cool is that our machines are many meters in size! They are enormous dust extractors for gigantic production halls, or fully robotized blasting installations for high-tech clients in chemistry, aerospace windmill producers or shipyards for submarines!
I first thought about nanometers. After five years as an entrepreneur, I am now educated in the art of customer contact, acquisition, financial management, investing, websites, production modernization and last but not least, how to deal with your employees, suppliers and people as an entrepreneur! Setting boundaries: what you can and cannot expect from each other.
This is my vision: An enterprise is an organism, a being. No, an enterprise is simply a team! It’s good listening, long breath, patience, and trying to make sure all team members can perform. I have had many mentors.
From everyone I learned something. But the most I learned from my own mistakes! Make Mistakes. Fail Forward, Elon Musk would say. I am an entrepreneur who wants to get it all the way. So that at least I know exactly, whether the investment is the right one for the business!
